Projecte UlleresGlasses project

Since we arrived we have noticed that a lot of people wear glasses in Taiwan. We could find some statistics that around 90% of the young people have to wear glasses or contact lenses. With these figures, there is obviously fashion around glasses.
One of the most funny trends is to find people that wear glasses with NO LENSES, so they just have the frame of the glasses.
It is easy to find these kind of glasses in small shops on the streets in the night markets. Actually is another complement as it would be a hat, earrings or bracelets.

So we decided to, with the help of our friend Nina, go out and ask people on the street to let us take a picture of them with this kind of glasses. Thank you to all the nice Taiwanese people that let us take pictures of them.

It is not only at Taiwan that they seem to be crazy about glasses, through a friend from OneVillageFoundation (a Taiwanese NGO which has some projects in Ghana) we also discovered an Kenyan artist from the Maker Faire Africa 2010, who also creates funny works inspiring on glasses. Worth visiting his gallery of design glasses.
