Aprofitant un cap de setmana llarg de tres dies, hem fet una escapada i turisme semi local a Penghu<\/a>, un arxip\u00e8lag de 90 illes (i illetes) a menys d’una hora d’avi\u00f3 des de Taipei. \u00c9s com anar a Menorca des de Barcelona.<\/p>\n

Amb menys de 100.000 haitants, l’oferta de retaurants \u00e9s limitada i els \u00fanics llocs on ofereixen menjar occidental \u00e9s un McDonald’s i algun lloc d’entrepans. Alg\u00fa tenia ganes de pizza…<\/p>\n

De fet, la zona fa honor al seu nom original de \u00abPescadores\u00bb que el portuguesos li van donar en el seu temps, ja que la principal activitat \u00e9s la pesca (a m\u00e9s a m\u00e9s del turisme i esports d’aigua).<\/p>\n

Al ser temporada baixa encara no hi havia gaira gent i moltes botigues o restaurants estaven tancats. Les platges estaven buides. Apart de la capital, Magong,<\/a> la resta de pobles semblen petites urbanitzacions (en comparaci\u00f3 amb Taipei) per\u00f2 on no hi pot faltar, \u00e9s clar, el seu temple (i quins temples!) i el seu 7\/11 (cadena de tendes on hi pots comprar de tot, i a Taipei n’hi ha a cada cantonada!).<\/p>\n

Nosaltres ens vam quedar a l’illa de Siyu, en uns bungalows recomanats per uns amics i on hi vam estar molt b\u00e9, l’hostal es diu el km 23.5<\/a>. Just al costat del pont trans-oce\u00e0nic que uniex dues de les illes amb uns 2,5km de llargada i del qu\u00e8 tant orgullosos estan el habitants de Penghu.<\/p>\n

Com a bons empresaris que s\u00f3n els taiwanesos, les illes tenen tots els seus atractius tur\u00edstics: les plages i activitats acu\u00e0tiques, que no vam podeu gaudir; formacions geol\u00f2giques a vegades amb formes curioses (si tens imaginaci\u00f3) i un museu mar\u00ed amb un centre de conservaci\u00f3 de tortugues marines… a part de gaudir del silenci i el bon temps, que vegades costa tant trobar a Taipei :)<\/p>\n

Com a bons tur\u00edstes, vam llogar una moto per moure’ns i anar a vistar tot aix\u00f2. Per arribar a les illes m\u00e9s meridionals s’ha d’agafar un vaixell i un cop all\u00e0 es pot escollir entre anar en bus o en moto. L’Albert li va agafar el gust a aix\u00f2 de conduir moto i jo vaig molt b\u00e9 de paquet.<\/p>\n

A part de descansar i visitar les quatre atraccions tur\u00edstiques, tamb\u00e9 vam provar el menjar t\u00edpic local: peix fresc, figa de cactus i past\u00eds de sucre moreno.<\/p>\n

Durant els dies a Penghu no vam trobar cap tur\u00edsta occidental (fora de la ciutat de Magong). I m\u00e9s us val parlar quatre paraules de xin\u00e8s o portar una bona guia si us voleu entendre amb la gent!<\/p>\n

Taking advantage of a 3-day weekend, we escaped to a semi-local tourist destination: Penghu<\/a>. Penghu is a group of ~90 islands (and small islands) less than one hour away from Taipei. It is like going to Menorca (Balear Islands) from Barcelona.<\/p>\n

With less than 100.000 inhabitants in total, the offer for western food is almost limited to a McDonald’s in Magong. Someone decided that he wanted Pizza Hut and he took two pizzas as hand luggage into the plane…<\/p>\n

Indeed, the original name given by the Portuguese to this archipelago was \u00abPescadores\u00bb, a perfect match still today as the main activity is still fishing (including tourism and water sports).<\/p>\n

It is still low season and there are not many people around, tourist shops are mostly closed and not all restaurants are running. The beaches still empty. Apart from the capital, Magong<\/a>, the rest of the towns are like small neighbors (specially when compared to Taipei) but it is mandatory to have a big temple (or various of them) and the 7-11 shop (convenience store chain omnipresent all around Taiwan).<\/p>\n

We stayed at Siyu island, in a beach front resort recommended by some friend from Taichung. The place is really great: km 23.5<\/a>. It is located next to the largest bridge in the archipelago (2,5Km length), which is one of the landmarks in Penghu.<\/p>\n

Taiwanese, as business oriented people, have everything arranged and defined a lot of tourist highlights: beaches, water sports, special geological formations with unusual shapes (if you have a good imagination) and a large turtle conservation center… but the best indeed is the silence and the good weather that is so difficult to enjoy in Taipei :)<\/p>\n

As tourists are expected to do, we rented a small scooter to move around the islands and visit the various spots. To reach the more meridional islands you must take a boat and then take the tourist bus on the island (or just rent another scooter). Albert had a lot of fun riding the scooter and I enjoyed being the passenger.<\/p>\n

Apart from relaxing and check-in in most of the tourists attractions, we also tasted local food (fresh fish), cactus fruit and the famous brown sugar cake.<\/p>\n

During our stay at Penghu we did not cross with any other non-Asian tourist (outside Magong). It is important to speak some Chinese or have a good conversation guide as few people speak English there.<\/p>\n
