No parlar\u00e9 dels detalls de la feina per no avorrir al personal i per simple sentit com\u00fa al ser una web oberta a tothom.<\/p>\n<p>Singapore est\u00e0 \u00abnom\u00e9s\u00bb a 4 hores de vol de Taipei i aix\u00f2 permet comen\u00e7ar a fer-se una idea de <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lib.utexas.edu\/maps\/middle_east_and_asia\/asia_east_pol_2004.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">les dimensions del continent asi\u00e0tic<\/a> comparat amb Europa. Aqu\u00ed els viatges de negocis rarament duren menys de 2 o 3 dies ja que les dist\u00e0ncies simplement no permeten anar i tornar en un mateix dia.<\/p>\n<p>Singapore \u00e9s una illa\/pa\u00eds for\u00e7a curi\u00f3s. Molt ric i pr\u00f2sper a la vegada que ultraregulat i controlat pel govern.\u00a0 Exemples dr\u00e0stics: prohibit menjar xiclet (no es poden comprar b\u00e0sicament), cops de vara com a c\u00e0stig menor i pena de mort per tr\u00e0fic de drogues.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Port_of_Singapore\" target=\"_blank\">El port de Singapore<\/a> \u00e9s dels m\u00e9s grans i actius del m\u00f3n. Prop de la meitat del tr\u00e0nsit mundial de petroli passa per aquest port. Singapore disposa de molt poca terra i recursos propis, amb el que ha d&#8217;importar la majoria del que la societat necessita: aigua, menjar, petroli, electricitat, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Al ser ex-col\u00f2nia brit\u00e0nica, a m\u00e9s a m\u00e9s de conduir per l&#8217;esquerra i els <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/BS_1363\">endolls com a UK<\/a>, l&#8217;idioma dominant \u00e9s l&#8217;\u00e0ngles (tot i que amb un accent curi\u00f3s i a vegades complicat). El xin\u00e8s mandar\u00ed, malai i t\u00e0mil tamb\u00e9 s\u00f3n d&#8217;\u00fas habitual. La majoria de gent \u00e9s pol\u00edglota i parlar de 3 a 5 lleng\u00fces no \u00e9s anormal.<\/p>\n<p>Un parell de curiositats extres:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ens va portar amunt i avall el <a href=\"http:\/\/tashilimo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">TashiLimo<\/a> &#8230; un taxi amb wifi a dintre! :) El conductor era tot un personatge<\/li>\n<li>Als centres comercials l&#8217;aire \u00e9s fresc i net, per\u00f2 quan surts al carrer fa molta calor+ humitat (algun cop se m&#8217;han entelat les ulleres al sortir al carrer!) &#8230; i t&#8217;arriba quasi sempre olor a menjar&#8230; la sensaci\u00f3 \u00e9s una mica rara<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>En aquest viatge he pogut comen\u00e7ar a experimentar la manera de fer negocis en la cultura xinesa:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cap empresa xina et comprar\u00e0 res si no et coneix molt b\u00e9 abans. Per tal d&#8217;establir aquesta relaci\u00f3 el contacte amb el client s&#8217;allarga durant tot el dia (reunions + \u00e0pats + entreteniment). Poden ser diversos dies.<\/li>\n<li>La jerarquia \u00e9s molt important. En els \u00e0pats els m\u00e0xims responsables de cada empresa eren sempre els primers de tastar els plats.<\/li>\n<li>La cultura del regal tamb\u00e9 \u00e9s molt important. Els regals (que no tenen perqu\u00e8 ser cars) s&#8217;otorguen en funci\u00f3 del grau de responsabilitat dins l&#8217;empresa.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>D&#8217;altra banda els negocis amb la gent de Singapore s\u00f3n m\u00e9s similars al model occidental i fins i tot una mica llatins en diversos aspectes (sorpresa agradable!)<br \/>\nEn general la manera de vestir per fer negocis \u00e9s molt m\u00e9s casual en aquests pa\u00efsos que Europa. A Singapore per exemple una camisa de m\u00e0niga llarga \u00e9s el m\u00e0xim que s\u00b4espera en una reuni\u00f3 de negocis.<\/p>\n<p>Us deixo algunes fotos d&#8217;aquesta setmana per Singapore. Crec que la c\u00e0mera de fotos s&#8217;ha trencat del tot i les he hagut de fer amb el tel\u00e8fon m\u00f2bil. Tocat del bolet.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--:--><!--:en-->Right after arriving to Taipei it was time to enroll on the first business trip, to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Singapore\" target=\"_blank\">Singapore<\/a> (shortened as Spore). I will obviously not disclose any work details as this is a public website (and it would also bore most of the potential audience anyway)<\/p>\n<p>Singapore is \u00abmerely at\u00bb 4 hours from Taipei by plane and that helps to understand <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lib.utexas.edu\/maps\/middle_east_and_asia\/asia_east_pol_2004.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">the size of the Asian continent<\/a> compared to Europe. Here the business trips usually will take 2 or 3 days, as with the distances involved is simply not realistic do to a return trip on the same day for most of the destinations abroad. <\/p>\n<p>Singapore is a country\/island quite unique. Extremely wealthy, with tons of regulations and the government involved at all aspects of citizens life. Drastic examples: it is forbidden to chew gum (they are not being sold anyway), strokes of cane in addition to prison sentences and death sentence for drug dealing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Port_of_Singapore\" target=\"_blank\">The Port of Singapore<\/a> is one of the biggest and the most active in the world. Around half of the world&#8217;s oil goes though the Port of Singapore. As Singapore natural resources (land, mountains, etc.) are extremely limited, they have to import most of the goods consumed by a modern society: water, electricity, food, oil, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Being a former British colony, apart from driving on the left (wrong? :)) side and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/BS_1363\">the UK-like plugs <\/a>, the most widely spoken language is English (sometimes with a peculiar and rather difficult accent). Mandarin, Malai and Tamil are also official languages. It is impressive how people regularly speak from 3 to 5 different languages. <\/p>\n<p>Two additional funny facts from this trip:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The company hired a minivan, the <a href=\"http:\/\/tashilimo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">TashiLimo<\/a> &#8230; with Wifi inside it! :) The drivers was a very interesting person indeed.<\/li>\n<li>At the malls the air is fresh and clean, but when you hit the street it is really hot and humit (leading to my glasses getting foggy sometimes) &#8230; and your nose will get a quite strong food smell &#8230; it is a strange sensation for Westerns<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On this trip I&#8217;ve also had the chance to start experimenting the how business is done with Chinese companies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>No Chinese company will buy anything from you unless they get to know you pretty well. In order to cement this relationship the contact with the client is not limited to the meetings but extended to the whole day including various meals and entertainment. That can easily last several days.<\/li>\n<li>The hierarchy is extremely important. During meals the maximum representatives of each company will have the honor to taste all dishes in the first place.<\/li>\n<li>The gift related culture is also crucial. The gifts (that do not need to be expensive ones) are arranged according to the position in the company. Make no mistake on this aspect or you can ruin all previous efforts to cement the relationship<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the other side, business with Singaporean companies are slightly close to the western business habits and they even have a Latino approach sometimes (that was a nice surprise to me!).<br \/>\nIn general the business dressing code on all these countries is less formal that in Europe.
