Es creu que si no es venera als esperits adequadament, incl\u00fas als que no tenen descendents, es poden enfadar i causar problemes a la gent. Els taiwanesos creuen especialment en aquesta festivitat ja que en la hist\u00f2ria de Taiwan, van ser molts els que van immigrar a l’illa, van patir guerres i fam, i per aix\u00f2 van quedar moltes \u00e0nimes sense descendents que van lluitar pel seu pa\u00eds. Aquesta superstici\u00f3 fa que els taiwanesos respectin els seus avantpassats m\u00e9s que a la Xina.<\/p>\n
La majoria de les activitats se centren en els temples, on es fan sacrificis de porcs, ofrenes de menjar, crema d’incens, cants o preg\u00e0ries i la crema de diners falsos perqu\u00e8 els esperits s’ho puguin emportar al m\u00e9s enll\u00e0 (aix\u00f2 pot semblar c\u00f2mic per\u00f2 \u00e9s molt com\u00fa veure en temples o comer\u00e7os com cremen aquests papers grocs).<\/p>\n
El 29\u00e8 dia del mes es tanca la porta dels esperits i es considera que s’ha acabat un mes d’alegria i llibertat pels esperits i els vius poden descansar segurs i sense ser molestats.<\/p>\n Tot i ser supersitici\u00f3s o no, sembla que durant aquest mes es registren alts \u00edndex d’accidents a la carretera o al mar, fet que moltes vegades incita als taiwanesos a avan\u00e7ar o posposar activitats que tenien previstes. Fins i tot les dones embarassades fan esfor\u00e7os per donar a llum abans que arribin aquestes dates.<\/p>\n Tamb\u00e9 hi ha altres activitats i celebracions a diferents punts de l’illa, per\u00f2 els m\u00e9s destacables s\u00f3n a Keelung<\/a>, amb els fanalets aqu\u00e0tics, o la competici\u00f3 de presa de banderes a Toucheng<\/a>. Once a year, the \u00abGhost Gate\u00bb opens and let them to return and visit their descendants during the whole\u00a0month<\/a>. This month falls on the seventh month of the lunar calendar (between August and September) and it is dedicated to pray for them and offer lots of feasts and sacrifices.<\/p>\n It is said that if ghosts are not venerated properly, even those who don’t have descendants, can get upset and cause some troubles. Taiwanese specially believe on this feast due to the history of their country. There were many people who immigrated to the island, they suffered wars and hunger, what left many souls without descendants who fought for their country. Thats the superstition why Taiwanese believe more in their ancestors than in main China.<\/p>\n Most of the activities are held no the temples, where it takes place pigs’ sacrifices, big offerings of food, burn of incense, chants or prayers, as well as burning fake money for the spirits and let them to take it away (this can sound funny but it is very common to see people on the temples or shops burning fake money).<\/p>\n During the whole month the most superstitious carry out some \u00abrestrictions\u00bb to do not offend the ghosts. That’s the reason there are some prohibitions or things you are not allowed (or you are supposed) to do so:<\/p>\n The 29th day of\u00a0 the month the door of the souls closes and a month of joy and freedom for the spirits ends. People can rest safely and undisturbed.<\/p>\n Even if you are not superstitious, it seems that this month registers high indexes of accidents on the roads or in the sea, making Taiwanese to move forward or pospone some activites already planned.
